Former IQCC member Oriol Planas appointed as Lecturer in Organic Chemistry by Queen Mary University of London

Last week, Oriol Planas, a former member of the IQCC, was appointed as a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry by Queen Mary University of London, where he will start his own research group at the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences. Oriol did his PhD thesis with success on “Cobalt-catalyzed C-H Activation” supervised by Xavi Ribas and Anna Company in 2018. Then, he moved to Mülheim an der Ruhr to continue his work in the research group of Dr. Josep Cornellà at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung. There he was awarded with several prestigious fellowships, including a MSCA-IF action funded by the European Union. In London, Oriol will continue pursuing studies on catalysis, focusing on reactivity happening at the interface between main group elements and earth-abundant base metals with the objective of developing sustainable methods for organic synthesis.

The IQCC congratulates him warmly and wishes him success in his new adventure!
