Dr. Ramon Carbó-Dorca Carré will turn 80 next Monday, November 19, 2020. On the occasion of this special day, in his capacity as Emeritus Professor of the University of Girona, he will give an online Master Class.
Ramon Carbó-Dorca joined the university studies of Girona in 1986, quickly became a Professor, and was one of the architects of the implementation of the 2nd cycle of the studies of Chemistry and therefore of the Faculty of Sciences of the UdG. After a fruitful initial research stage as a Laboratory of Computational Chemistry, in 1993 he became the first director and founder of the Institute of Computational Chemistry (IQC), which in 2013 expanded its field of action to become the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC).
Although Dr. Carbó-Dorca retired in 2010, as Emeritus Professor of the UdG he has continued an active research life that has resulted in a long list of articles published in international journals.
This Master Class (in English) will take place on Monday 19 at 16.00h, and will address one of the topics he has recently developed and applied to various fields of knowledge, particularly in Quantum Similarity: Boolean Hypercubes. The Class is aimed at members of the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis at the UdG, as well as researchers in theoretical and computational chemistry who are interested and in general anyone who wishes.
The Institute of Computational Chemistry (and Catalysis) joins the celebration of this 80th anniversary of its first director, with the organization of this online master class, which will also feature brief speeches by the Rector, the current and previous directors of the IQCC, and other people who have been able to share key moments in the career of Ramon Carbó-Dorca.
The master class will use the StreamYard tool, and will be broadcasted live on Youtube, from where contributions can be made. The hashtag #carbo80 has also been set up so that anyone who wishes can take part on social media.
