Sergio Fernández, new Juan de la Cierva postdoc fellow at IQCC

Dr. Sergio Fernández has recently become a new member of the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC). Dr. Fernández did his PhD at the ICIQ on the “Development and mechanistic study of well-defined catalysts for the CO2 and H2O reduction reactions” under the supervision of Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol and Dr. Josep Maria Luis. After graduating in 2022, he moved to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) to work in Prof. Alexander J. M. Miller group where he studied electrochemical-organometallic cascade reactivity for synthesis of liquid fuels.
Since September 2025, he holds a Juan de la Cierva Fellow position in Prof. Miquel Costas’s and he is currently investigating electrochemical strategies for the bioinspired oxidation of strong C-H bonds.

Welcome Sergio and good luck!
