Cover ChemBioChem on efficient transferase engineering for SAM analog synthesis from iodoalkanes

The ChemBioChem journal features on its front cover the recently published research article “Efficient Transferase Engineering for SAM Analog Synthesis from Iodoalkanes” by Dr. Marc Garcia-Borràs of the DIMOCAT group at the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) of the University of Girona, also in collaboration with Dr. Stephan C. Hammer (Bielefeld University). The cover image depicts snapshots of an enzyme?s dynamic behavior derived from molecular dynamics simulations. Protein movements can provide valuable insights to identify “hotspot“ amino acids for efficient enzyme engineering. Here, a transferase has been optimized to synthesize S-adenosyl-l-methionine analogs from readily available iodoalkanes.
