Dr. Marc Garcia-Borràs has been selected as Beatriu de Pinós researcher of the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) working in the CompBioLab group of Prof. Sílvia Osuna. Dr. Garcia-Borràs did his PhD in 2015 at the University of Girona under the supervision of Prof. Miquel Solà and Dr. Josep M. Luis. During his doctoral studies he investigated on the computational study of the structure and reactivity of fullerenes and endohedral (metallo)-fullerenes, their application in Host-Guest chemistry and their purifications via selective supramolecular encapsulation. After his PhD defense, he spent three years as a postdoc in the group of Prof. K. N. Houk at UCLA to work on the computational modelling and design of new biocatalytic processes. This year, he returned to IQCC with Juan de la Cierva fellowship. He has published more than 50 articles that have been cited more than 600 times. During his postdoc in the IQCC, he is working on computational characterization of enzymatic reactive intermediates for the discovery and design of new biocatalytic activities.
We wish him good luck in his research work!
