The Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) of the University of Girona (UdG) is a worldwide reference unit in computational chemistry and catalysis that aims at carrying out groundbreaking research on predictive chemistry for catalysis, with special focus on the processes occurring at the confined space for the coming years.
The unit was created as Institute of Computational Chemistry (IQC) in 1993, and its rules were approved in 1997 by the Senate of the UdG. In 2012, the IQC was joined by two experimental research groups, the Bioinorganic and Supramolecular Chemistry (QBIS) and Transition Metals in Organic Synthesis (METSO) groups, and changed its name to IQCC (approved by UdG Senate in February 2013). This was motivated by a previous history of collaborations and synergies between the three research groups. With this transformation, the IQCC wants to face the new challenges in research and adapt to the new research frame at the Catalan, Spanish, and European levels.
There are two airports that you can use for coming to Girona.
Girona airport (GRO): Aeroport de Girona
Barcelona airport (BCN): Aeroport del Prat de Llobregat
The most convenient is Girona airport because of the closer distance, but there may be less flights to it from the different places in and outside Europe. Check possible flights with SkyScanner.
The connection between BCN airport and Girona city may take 2-4 hours depending on the transport(s) taken.
There is almost every hour a direct bus from Girona Airport to Girona Station, which costs ca. 2.75 €. See the following website for more details.
Four times a day there is a direct bus from BCN Airport to Girona Station, which takes ca. 2 hours and 30 minutes and costs about 19 € for a one-way ticket.
Leaving from T1 (bus-platform (anden) 10-11-12) at: 10.00, 11.30, 14.40, 16.40.
Leaving from T2 (bus-platform (anden) 23) at: 10.15, 11.45, 14.45, 16.55.

Return times from Girona station are: 06.45, 08.45, 12.00, 15.30, 18.30.
Arriving at BCN T1 at ca.: 08.45, 11.00, 14.15, 17.25, 20.30 (at T2 10 min. earlier).
For more information see detailed information available at Sagales/Barcelona Bus.
Fast Train from BCN Sants station
The regular slow train connection from Airport BCN leaves from BCN Terminal 2 (T2), see below.
If no bus is available, it is recommended to take a taxi (or urban bus) to BCN Sants train station, and take a fast train from there (37 minutes BCN Sants to Girona). Tickets for fast trains can be bought beforehand (conference discount codes will be available in February 2016) through the Renfe website.
Alternatively, there is a train connection from BCN Airport to Girona Station involving two lines.
First: Take the free Transit bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 (15 min.).
Second: Walk to train station (10-15 min.) from within Terminal 2B (upstairs).
Third: Buy directly a ticket to Girona at the counter (not available on the machines probably).
Fourth: Every half an hour (xx.08 and xx.38) a train leaves.
Fifth: Get off at Passeig de Gracia (one stop AFTER Barcelona Sants)
Sixth: Depending on the hour you’ll have to wait between 20 and 50 minutes, then take the direct train to Girona.
List with trains leaving from BCN to Girona can be found here.
