Jordi Soler, new Postdoctoral Researcher at IQCC

Dr. Jordi Soler has recently joined us as a new member of the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC). Dr. Soler completed undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, followed by the European Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling at Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier. He subsequently joined the University of Girona to undertake his doctoral studies at the IQCC under the supervision of Prof. Sílvia Osuna and Prof. Marc Garcia-Borràs, focusing on the application of multiscale computational methods to understand and design enzyme catalysis.

After obtaining his PhD in 2023, he continued his research at the IQCC as a postdoctoral researcher, investigating enzymatic catalysis. In October 2024, he moved to the University of Oxford as a Ramón Areces Postdoctoral Researcher in Prof. Fernanda Duarte’s group. During his time at Oxford, he expanded his research towards physical organic chemistry, protein-DNA recognition, and the computational understanding and design of enzyme inhibitors.

He has now returned to the IQCC as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Marc Garcia-Borràs and Dr. Ferran Feixas, where he combines physics-based molecular modelling with generative approaches to design novel inhibition strategies for challenging enzymatic targets. He is currently affiliated with the Department of Physics, where he also contributes to undergraduate teaching.

Welcome Jordi and good luck!
