A modular family of chiral cavitand receptors: tuning the chiroptical response of achiral fullerene guests

A family of chiral and flexible self-folding cavitand hosts for fullerenes based on calix[5]arene has been developed. The cavitands induce a chiroptical response onto the bound fullerene chromophore that can be modulated through substituent effects.
