Unusual reactivity of rhodium carbenes with allenes: an efficient asymmetric synthesis of methylenetetrahydropyran scaffolds

The reaction of a rhodium vinyl carbene with an O-tethered allene stereoselectively produces the 4-methylenetetrahydropyran core through a rhodium trimethylenemethane-like intermediate.
