Oxidation-induced double aromaticity in periodo-polycyclic hydrocarbons

We showed that the oxidation of periodo-derivatives of naphthalene, anthracene, and perylene induces σ-electron delocalization, giving rise to the double aromatic character in the oxidized forms of these molecules.
